The Monon Railroad was known as a "home-grown" railroad. Many of the employees knew on another as the railroad had a "family" atmosphere. The Thoroughbred was one of several passenger trains on the railroad. It ran daily from Chicago, Illinois to Louisville, Kentucky. it even had a paint scheme to match Indiana State University. John Baringer, the president of the railroad, saw to it that this passenger train, along with the others, was always a first-class operation. In this scene, the Thoroughbred is shown headed south towards Louisville in a typical Indiana pastoral setting, complete with semaphore signals and a rural grade crossing.
