A Union Pacific "Big Boy" steam locomotive slowly departs from Cheyenne, Wyoming as it negotiates the switches out of the freight yard. A Challanger-class 4-6-6-4 passes the Big Boy as it hustles its charge westward for the long laborious climb up Sherman Hill. A "veranda" gas turbine locomotive makes a token appearance in the background, as it too will soon follow the precession of trains west. A Colorodo and Southern freight passes overhead as it makes its way North, being pushed by a 2-10-4 helper. This is western railroading at its best!
