Our Olive Wood w/ Bone Inlay Nesting Bowls 3/Set (Fair Trade-Kenya) is hand-carved in Kenya and features decorative, inlaid pieces of discarded animal bone which are batiked in a mudcloth pattern. Carved by hand using only rudimentary hand tools, these bowls take shape from pieces of olive wood. The unique two-color patterns on the bone inlay are created in melted wax and then the bone is dipped in a dark dye.
The tight grain and smooth surface of olive wood is resistant to absorbing odors and liquids making them perfect for serving hors d'oeuves or snacks or for catching trinkets and jewelry With proper care these nesting bowls will last a lifetime. Handwash using mild soap. Also periodically treat with mineral oil or danish oil.
