The science fiction era is upon us. Sort of. The portable media player, the iPod, may have received its name from Stanley Kubrick's classic science fiction film 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY it is not a device derived from a mythic future. No, it is a product of the modern times that has greatly changes the way people watch video and listen to music.

The iPod has greatly revolutionized consumer electronics to a degree that few had ever previously expected. Long gone now are the days of bulky Walkman's or the need to carry a portable CD player and a portable DVD player and a huge case to carry both of them. Also eliminated is the need to carry stacks of CDs and DVDs.
